Data Availability Policy
Data Availability Policy
JECNAM encourages authors to make the research data underlying their findings openly available and citable wherever legally and ethically permissible.
Data Availability Statement (DAS)
All manuscripts submitted to JECNAM must include a Data Availability Statement in the manuscript, placed after the Conclusion section and before the References. The DAS must clearly state one of the following:
- "The data that support the findings of this study are openly available in [repository name] at [URL/DOI]."
- "The data that support the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request."
- "All data generated or analysed during this study are included in this published article and its supplementary information files."
- "The data are not publicly available due to [reason, e.g., privacy restrictions, commercial sensitivity], but may be made available upon reasonable request."
Recommended Repositories
Authors are encouraged to deposit research data in publicly accessible repositories. Recommended options include:
- Zenodo (https://zenodo.org) — free, open, supports all data types
- Figshare (https://figshare.com) — suitable for datasets, code, figures
- Dryad (https://datadryad.org) — for scientific and medical data
- Discipline-specific repositories relevant to the research field
Software and Code
If the study involves custom software, scripts, or algorithms, authors are strongly encouraged to make these available via GitHub, GitLab, or a similar public platform, and to provide the repository URL in the manuscript.
Data Citation
Datasets deposited in repositories should be formally cited in the reference list, following the same standards as any other publication, including a persistent identifier (DOI or accession number).
