Generative AI policies

GENERATIVE AI USE POLICY

JWES acknowledges that generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools are increasingly used in research and writing workflows. The following policy applies to all submissions:

  1. AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot) may not be listed as authors. Authorship requires accountability, which AI tools cannot fulfill.
  2. If generative AI was used to assist in drafting, editing, language improvement, or data visualization, this must be disclosed in the Methods section or an Acknowledgements statement.
  3. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of AI-assisted content. Fabricated citations or data generated by AI tools will be treated as research misconduct.
  4. The use of AI to write core analysis or conclusions without substantial intellectual input from human authors is discouraged and may result in manuscript rejection.
