Abstract

Economic security is one of the most critical elements of human security. It refers to the economic capacity of an individual or community. The basic purpose of this paper is to analyze the impacts of Afghan refugees on the economic status of Pakistan. The findings of the research indicate that the presence of Afghan refugees contributes negatively to the economy of Pakistan. Major economic concerns include inflation, poverty, unemployment, weak social safety nets and change in income distribution. The paper ends with the suggestion that the issue of Afghan refugees must be resolved according to the National Action Plan in true letter and spirit. The policy of the state must be clear with national interest as the top priority.
