Retraction and Corrections Policy

Retraction and Corrections Policy

The Journal of Mental Health Issues and Behavior (JMHIB) is committed to the integrity of the scientific record. In accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, we maintain the following retraction and correction procedures:

Corrections (Erratum)

  • Minor errors that do not affect the conclusions of a published article will be addressed through an erratum notice.
  • An erratum will be published in the next available issue and linked to the original article.
  • The original article will be updated online with a clear notice indicating the correction.

Retractions

  • JMHIB will retract a published article if: (1) the findings are unreliable due to misconduct (data fabrication, falsification, plagiarism); (2) the findings are unreliable due to honest error; (3) the work was published elsewhere without proper attribution; (4) the work constitutes redundant publication; (5) the work contains ethical violations.
  • Retractions are published as a 'Retraction Notice' that specifies the reason for retraction and is linked bidirectionally with the original article.
  • Retracted articles remain visible in the journal archive, clearly marked as 'RETRACTED'.
  • The retraction notice is signed by the Editor-in-Chief and includes the date of retraction.

Expressions of Concern

  • An Expression of Concern may be issued when: an investigation is ongoing, or when the editors have credible reason to believe the article may be unreliable but cannot yet confirm misconduct.

Process

  • Concerns about published articles should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief at editor.jmhib@gmail.com.
  • All allegations will be investigated in accordance with COPE flowcharts.
  • Authors, reviewers, and editors involved will be given opportunity to respond.
  • Decisions on retractions are made by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the publisher.
